Delegation: the Hardest Thing

One of the many benefits of running your own successful business is that, as well as working hard, you also get to play hard. As long as you are bringing in money, and plenty of it, then there is absolutely no reason why you cannot have that apartment in Cannes have built up the business .

The problem that many entrepreneurs in this situation face though is that they simply do not know how to delegate. They successfully though their own hard work, and whether they are genuinely worried or just like to feel indispensable, they do not like to hand over the reins to someone else, even for a short time.

That is why the most infuriating of sights is often to be found on your holiday – the businessman with a blackberry. It makes you want to scream out loud. Picture it, you are trying to relax on the sun-lounger when you become aware of the man on the next bed tapping furiously and self-importantly every five minutes into his blackberry.

That is irritating enough, but then disaster looms. He makes a call on it! And not an ordinary call at a normal pitch, but a loud strident bellow down the phone, not forgetting to drop in phrases such as closing the deal and million pounds.

Do us a favour and delegate next time.
